S. Shankar

Shankar is currently considered one of the most talented director in the Cine Industry in India. All the films directed by him were super mega hits and each of them is breaking the records. He is the most wanted director in the industry. Shankar used to shape his talents from the days of his Assistant Director post. After learning all about directing a film, he placed his foot strongly as a director in the film "Gentleman". The film is a big hit. He continue with his hit films Prabhu Deva starred "Kadalan", Kamalhasan starred "Indian" and Prasanth starred "Jeans". His latest film released during deepavali 1999 "Muthalvan" also joined his hit list. He used to implement new techniques in his films and will bring out the talent of the artists with them.

MANIRATNAM

Maniratnam made his debut in films through  Pallavi Anu Pallavi (1983)  in Kannada. Pagal Nilavu (1985) was his first film in Tamil, from then he went on to establish a place for himself  in Tamil film Industry.   He revolutionized the Tamil film industry in paritcular and Indian film in general.   His films are very popular for the exotic locations and  excellent photography. He also writes dialogues for  his movies . He started  Madras Talkies  his own film production company and prodced  Iruvar  (1997), Uyire (1998), Alai Payuthe (2000).

Kathir

Kathir entered the film industry with great style. His very first film "Idhayam" was a Silver jubilee hit. His other successful films are "Uzhavan", "Kadal Desam" and the recently released "Kaadalar Dinam" which was a multi lingual film. It is produced in Tamil, Telugu & Hindi version. Recipient of Cinema Express New Best Director Award for his debut film "Idhayam". He is considered as one of the best directors in the cine field. K.Bagyaraj

Bagyaraj is multi faceted film personality he is a director, actor, screenplay & dialogue  writer and a producer. He started his career as an assistant to director G.Ramakrishnan and then to Barathirajaa. He wrote the dialogue for Kizhake Pogum rayil (1978). He made his directorial debut with the film Suvarillatha Chittirangal. He then started his own concern and produced a series of popular films. He created his own style in movie making, he laced humor in his stories, this way of story telling became very popular with the masses. He has directed and acted in more than twenty five films. He has also directed a Hindi film. Currently he is directing various TV Serials.

K.Balachandar

A scene from "Server Sundaram" K.Balachandar graduated to movies from amateur drama.He got a break in films as a script writer for the movie Deivathai (1964), he made his directorial debut in 1965. His first movie Neerkumizhi was based on one of his successful plays. He founded his own concern Kalakendraand produced a  string of successful movies. His films are set in contemporary times, his early films retained some featuresof the stage. He used outdoor locales effectively in his later works. He started handling political issues with his Achamillai...Achamiilai (1984). He has directed around seventy movies, though mostof them in Tamil, he has directed movies in Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. He has introduced a number of artistes who later went on to make their mark in filmdom.They include RajiniKanth and Sujatha. He has won a number of awards. He was awarded the Padma Shri award by the Government of India in 1987. Four of his films Iru kodugal, Aboorva Ragangal, Thaneer...Thaneer and Achamillai...Achamillai won awards from the Government of India as best regional films. Now he is directing various TV Serials.

Balu Mahendra

A scene from "Veedu" Balu Mahendra is a cinematography graduate and a gold medallist from the Film and Television 
Institute of India in Pune. He started his film career as a cameraman for the Malayalam film Nellu in 1974 which got him the best cinematographer award from the Government of India. He has been chosen  the best cinematographer for as many as ten films. His first film as a director was
Kokila (Kannada,1976), which earned him a National Award. Azhiyatha Kolanagl (1979) was his first directorial venture in Tamil. He is one of the few film makers in Tamil who can tell a story visually. He writes the script for his films, handles the camera and edits the film himself, thus retaining a firm control over his films.

Bharathiraaja

Puttanna Kanagal. His first film 16 vayathinile for which he wrote the story and the script made a big impact on the filmgoers. With authentic rural locales, outdoor sequences he revolutionised Tamil film making. His films deal in social themes in a rural back ground. His film Vedam Pudhithu
dealt with caste prejudice. His film Karuthamma which deals with female infanticide won him the

best regional film award. He as directed movies in Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi also. Recently he introduced his son Manoj as an actor in his latest film Taj Mahal.
